Default Block help

I am buying parts for a 408 stroker in a silverado SS. What differences as far as oil pan flywheel valve covers anthing else between the SS block and a 2500 block. I found a great junk yard block and wanted to start building.

The only differences in the Lq4 (2500hd) and Lq9 (ss) are the cam, tune, and pistons. Lq9 has flat top pistons and LQ4 has dished pistons.

Depending on year, the LQ9 has stronger connecting rods. If you're building the motor though, that should be irrelevant. The blocks will be interchangeable.

What about valve covers? Oil pan? I wanna break it in on engine dyno and not repurchase all that stuff or swap it over twice
