Default another one of those questions..

Im thinkin me swapping the cam I have in and being displeased and then wanting to rip it apart and do it over again will **** me and my dad off equally. So lets go with this: I want a mean idle and some good power, I also dont want to 'over cam' my 4.8 but I want something a little bigger than the 212/218 since I want it to sound good. Any suggestions and experiences guys, thanks and sorry to play this question out so much but I donno how to search for this

The GMPP Hot Cam like what I'm running should give you the lope you want, but I'm not sure if the duration (219/228) would be "over camming" a 4.8 motor.

The comp 216/218 is a nice choice, but isn't much different than what you've already got. Why don't you put the Lunati in?

well I havent got around to the cam install yet, I might shoot for this coming weekend but its the truck meet so I might just go the **** ant of the crew. But Im just not so sure about the 114 LSA and how big it is. I was looking at the TR220 but I mean 1 degree could make a difference along with the 114 right? I like how ur truck sounds and Im sure I'd make almost as much power as u since the 4.8 isnt much different. I just want some solid facts to go off of cuz the pain in the *** of a redo is something I dont wanna do

I gotcha, the 1* won't make a difference you can hear at all. I think you'll like the lunati and you should make some good power up top with it. Having the really large exhaust duration with the hot cam would benefit you if you don't have LT's.

if you want a lope you need to look at something on a 112 instead of a 114. the 212/218 on a 112 has a nice lope without sounding like a race vehicle. a tr220 on a 112 has an awesome lope. especially for only being a 220 duration cam.

see, thats where Im at, cuz I looked up specs of the TR220 and even the 224 on 112s and the 220 made OUTSTANDING power IMO and I would love to get one, but Im at the crossroads of if my cam would be worth installing with that 1 degree more duration but the 2 more on the Sep Angle.
So should I just go for it and never look back?

The 2 more degrees on the LSA is going to raise the power band just a little bit. I'd say go for it. What RPM is your new t/c going to stall at? If it's a 3k'ish that cam should be pretty sweet. If you spun it up to a lil more than 6k I'd like to see what it runs

power wise i think it will be close to the same as the tr220. it just won't have the idle lope you are looking for.

tell ya what, i just put some hooker LT's on with ORY yesterday, and this 212/218 sounds GREAT!!

it is talkin to me, not a long lope, but a great, crisp ticking.....i love the way it sounds! its a little too loud at 2-3K rpm while driving with this flowbastard muffler....but it sounds great at idle. its on a 114.
