Default another cam question

i have a stock ls1 cam fixing to go in my truck[ecsb 2wd 5.3 3.73 k&n fipk 3'' cat back hp tuner]
cam specs .500 lift 209E 198I 119.5 LSA
i was told i could put the cam in without having to change anything i am also wondering about the performance of this cam versus the stock one am i really going to feel the difference. im really concerned about the lsa on the cam. i still use the truck for towing and a dd. are shorty headers worth any kind of gain? any kind of input on this would be appreciated

First off, Welcome to PT.net
I dont think that cam will be cause for concern with towing, it's not too big. Shorty headers are not going to help too much, go long tube if you can.

with the ls1 cam qnd shorty headers you might gain 20 hp?? there are lot better cams out there and get some longtube headers

I forget where I saw the dyno chart(may have been on ls1truck.com) there was a dyno comparison between the stock cam and a Z06 cam and the diff was like 15hp. Not worth it IMO when you can go with a bigger/better cam for all the trouble it is to swap one.

Where are you located?

I think BigTex saw 30hp from an 01 Z06 cam in a 5.3, but I'm going back in the day when most around here were still in Middle School, and there weren't as many options as there are today. I agree with the fact that there are better choices out there.
