another cam noob.

Looking to improve my low to mid range power. Must pass smog cause California sucks balls. It's a daily driver and plan on upgrading Trans to 4L65E with a stall(one that's streetable). I still tow with it as well.
Someone has a custom grind 208/208 .5xx .5xx 112lsa that might be up for grabs.
What you guys think??
Oh, mods are below.

Unfortunately a cam isn't the way to go for low end grunt... there isn't much you can do with that 4.8 outside of forced induction to help that.

Yeah I know the lil 4.8 lacks bottom end torque. The gear swap helped a lot.
Well what i'm trying to do is wake up the motor a bit and not lose any bottom end.
Would like a healthy running street truck with nice power across the power curve.

I've got a comp 212/218 low lift in my truck and while I haven't smogged it yet, I have no doubt it will pass.

try a 2600 stall and an underdrive pulley. i run 1.8 yella terra ultralites that make a nice difference with stock cam.

Any opinions on the custom grind cam listed above?

Whitecrewcab 07-16-2013 07:39 PM

That cam will be close on getting it to pass emissions. The 4.8's are so little that it does not take much cam overlap to cause idle difficulties.

was told by seller that it will pass smog. Defiantly need pass emissions
