I understand that advancing the cam will lower the power band in the rpm range, but what else will it do?
Will it increase emmisions or affect idle?
If it increases torque in the lower band how much HP is lost from the top?
My peak power is made from 5700-6400 now, if brought down to 5400-6200 would my peak HP drop from 339 to 330, or less?
Thanks!

Advancing your cam will increase low and mid range performance.I doubt it will effect your emissions, but it should idle a little better too.I would check your cam card because some cams already have advance built in.If that is the case just degree the cam to the specs on the card.

Ok, so lowering the powerband 3 deg. = approx 600-900 lower in the band?
What about compression, torque and HP #'s? Is it true to say that torque #'s increase and HP's lower, and by how much?

Advancing the cam will start the intake valve events sooner, decreasing your intake valve-piston clearance. It also moves your powerband down the rpm range (as you've already discussed) and increases the low-end torque (and to a lesser degree, mid-range torque) but sacrifices some of the top end power.
To check for an advance grind, subtract the LSA from ICL.
I don't think anyone can give you anything more than a flat out guess on numbers. Too many variables.
