I've done it, an ounce per 5 gallon of gas. Did it for almost a year, never hurt a thing. It's WAY to small amount even if it was that costic. Might have helped a little in mileage but not a bunch. The school of thought its it releases the surface tension of the gas, making it vaporize better and burn more efficiently. IDK... but it's not going to hurt anything, that's for sure!

The only true way to increase mileage is to burn something with a higher air fuel ratio. I understand you can gain here and there with some tuning, but you still have to account for the engine volume, and you need the fuel to make the stoich ratio.

I doubt the savings in fuel would offset the cost of the acetone.

The only things I've put in the tank other than fuel was denatured alcohol, to help pass smog. I believe I did 1 part alcohol to 3 parts fuel.

denatured alcohol is ethanol mixed with gasoline...which is what you get from the gas pump anyway, just in a different ratio. Denatured alcohol has a more common name though...e85.

E85 = the denatured alcohol you buy in the can at Home Depot?

Thats actually half ethanol and half methanol, I believe. Its very expensive for what it is though.

Hey fellas funny story, and I know this works for sure. Old "Tymer" thought me this. I then recommended to a friend to add 1/4 gallon of kerosene to his full tank of gas. As he also wanted to clean is fuel system in tank and injectors. Well within the 1st 20 miles you could notice a difference in smoothness which stayed afterwards. The car was took on a 14 hr trip and gas mileage was not bad at all. But this guy kept adding it to his tank on a daily basis and swore it helps his mileage. I have used it in my personal vehicles in the past, all is fine with me. And dont try to use the kerosene nozzle it wont fit, my friend tried. You need to use a gas can.

As a matter if you look at Octane Booster, I believe 1 of the ingredients is kerosene?? Alot of different additives I believe use it.
