Default 862 exhaust valves with boost, any issues?

Machine shop recommends replacing exhaust valves with solid stem stainless steel for forced induction. Any thoughts? I told him no as countless have run the stock valves very successfully to insane power levels, but thought I would ask.

I can't recall seeing anyone on here swapping the valves out for anything different. At least not on your average FI build. Now a max effort build putting down 1,000hp+ would be a little bit different story.

Thanks that's what I figured. I know 1000hp builds oftentimes use inconel exhaust valves. I suppose stainless couldn't hurt, but it's not with the theme of the minimalist build.

The guy that does my serious repair work on the truck has a 5.3 with twin 76s and has factory heads other than springs. He's shooting for about 1200hp on meth.

It will really depend on use. You can get away with a lot on a car that is light and aerodynamic making 1/8 or quick 1/4 mile passes. If you are looking to make high strung long runs on something heavy shaped like a brick I would spend the extra $140 and make sure it does not come apart.
Inconel works excellent under duress but it is heavier as well. Keep that in mind with both valves, If you add weight to the valvetrain you need more spring pressure or you need to turn the motor at a lower rpm. It is really impossible to say you need one specific valve without a little more info. You can get away with stock valves in many applications, You need Stainless in some and Inconel in a few. If you need an extra ear to discuss it with before making a decision and putting it in a motor give us a shout and we will gladly give our opinion on the build.
Thank you,
Kyle
