6.0 Pistons

can some one give me a site where i can find some forged 6.0 pistons for stock rod length??

TurboGibbs 08-09-2006 03:32 PM

texas speed, thunder racing.
je, mahle, diamond, & probe all make pistons for gen 3 engines. one's for stock lenght rods are slim. I have an entire balanced 6.0 rotating assembly that may be for sale soon. I will have to buy 1 diamond piston to replace the 1 which is gaulded. They are diamond # 11514. LQ9 rods with ARP bolts.

can i use a piston thats for a 6.125 rod?

sliderbkt 08-09-2006 05:02 PM

No problem as long as you get the 6.125 rod.

I bought mine through CMS

Just make sure to double check every spec and make sure they all match. And make sure you measure every part when you get it. -Don't ask me how I know.

since im prolly gonna have to go with a 6.125 rod..do i need to get all this balanced?

sliderbkt 08-09-2006 05:15 PM

Yes,

When I put in my rods and pistons, they had to add a ton of weight to get it to balance.

It isn't all that much to balance. I think mine was $160

It isn't fun to pay for all of the little things, but you really don't have much choice for some of it.

I'm afraid to ask, You going to keep the same cam in the new motor?

dirt track racer 81 08-09-2006 05:22 PM

nope, it got the cam too..the small end of the rod and piston pic are wedged between the cam and the rod next to the screwed up one..im goin with a 230/226 .597/.573 113 lsa..im gettin the cam and 241 ls1 heads with ls6 springs for 150 bucks..but im gettin 918's

dirt track racer 81 08-09-2006 05:23 PM

yes i know once a motor blows throw it all away.. ive been in and around circle track cars my whole life..

TurboGibbs 08-09-2006 08:17 PM

The 6.098 rods use a .945" wrist pin and the 6.125 sbc rods use a .927 pin so no, you can't interchange pistons.
