Default 5.7 cam

About to put together my iron 5.7 flat top pistons. Truck is an 04 ext cab 2wd. Running stock everything for now, will be using manifold and cats going into 3" piping with bullet resonator only. Will have stock 799 heads. comp is 10.5.
Two cams im picking from are :
#1 Texas Speed Stage 2 Low Lift 212/218, .550"/.550" 114
#2 Texas Speed Stage 3 Low Lift 216/220, .550"/.500" 114
what would be better for daily driver/late for work driving?

or would a 112 work with stock converter and exhuast?

Both would work good and it shouldn't been a problem running a 112 LSA. It might chop a little more at idle.

It is a very hard choice for me, leaning to the 212/218 for the fact that it is closest to a Z06 cam on a 114 LSA, but dont wont to regret going a little bigger later down the road. Either is better than a stock LM7! I drive truck as stock form and just going for a stock Z06 with truck intake power.

I would leans towards the 212/218 with a stock converter. Seems like the 216/220 needs at least a trailblazer converter to really shine. I run a 220/224 and its gutless under 3k...which gets annoying for a daily.

Not hijacking your thread but going through the same decision process right now. Currently having the shortblock refreshed (383 Stroker) and am currently running a TSP cam 224/228 .581/.588 114 cam but am looking at either the 228R or their Stroker Cam which is 244/248 .615/.615 112 - any advice would be helpful. Looking to keep her NA for a bit so wanting the most out of her as possible. Thanks.

Well I just ordered the TSP 212/218 low lift on 114...it fits my plans the best for now, and is only a cam change if I want bigger later down the road.

I went with the TST 233/239 .600 112 - hopefully start putting the motor back together next week now that all the parts but the pistons are on hand.

I'm going to buy HP tuner and start learning to tune myself with help from others. Its the same price to have someone do it without the dyno, fingers crossed...
