the best advice I can give u is to wait awhile and do some research before jumping in head first with a cam in your avalanche

That said, are you sure that is a Comp camshaft grind?? I thought those specs looked familiar when I was lookin on Lingenfelter's website the other day and hot dog what do ya know....Those are the specs of the GT11 camshaft. Oh and by the way, the intended application is for 350-427 cubic inch engines. Notice that the 5.3 (325 cubic inches) does not fall into that range meaning your power band will be even higher than 1600-6500. This means this cam is going to do nothing to help get that big avalanche moving off the line. Sure it will eventually pick up but by that time chances are you are behind by car lengths to a lighter vehicle and it wont matter. Just my 2 cents.
The LSA is part of the equation that determines how it will idle, the cam's overlap will determine that. Comp grinds Lingenfelter's cams BTW, so the rep that he talked to on the phone may have just pulled the Comp/Lingenfelter specs out of the air lol. That cam would probably have a powerband more like 2500-6500 in a 5.3 I would think, but wouldn't really come on until over 3k...you hit the nail on the head when you said that it won't be very helpful in getting that big heavy Avy moving

If we're still referring to the original cam that you listed, it will be the opposite that. That lift will be murder on the valvetrain yet the idle will be relatively smooth due to the small overlap from the wide LSA. It should actually have good under the curve power though. Man, that's a blower cam all the way.
