It'd be nice to just start with a big big chuck of change to just do everything at the same time, blower/turbo, cam, heads, tranny, and rear end. Then he'll have traction issues and need slicks and traction bars. There's alot to consider, think about what you really want, and how reliable you want it. My tranny last 2 months after my cam swap. Then about a half a year later I broke an axle. And it's been fun, and expensive!
You will notice the most gain with a stall and gears. Heck just a stall will do with no tune. I got .6 seconds quicker with my 3000 stall. The cam 2 tenths, Cold air intake.04, gears 1 tenth ( 3.73 to 4.10 ) tune 4 tenths, headders .06, throttle body spacer 0, exhaust .2, cut out .1 . These are the incresses I gat. I did one instal at a time and kept track of what happend.

I like this choice. And save what's left over, you're going to need some new tires. Nitto and Hankook will probably be the best for Texas. GY's are a WASTE of money. Too damn soft.

You can get eBay headers for like 350, cam kit from TSP is Between 600/700 depending on single or dual valve springs, (I recommend dual) stall converter is between 400/900 depending on which one you get. Tune would be between 275-400. Headers come with a high flow y pipe, so you can just have a muffler welded in if you wanna save over a full cat back. Specter has cheap cold air kits, like 100. Shift kits are pretty cheap, get a servo also. I'd recommend a really big tranny cooler, tru-cool 40k, bout 135. All this would set you back about $2500 give or take. And if you were to all this at once you would have easily gained close to 100 whp. And that's a big difference
