LOL! I know. The 408 question is a super repeat. I just had to mess with ya. After following your build I think I will but a 408 or 427 short block when the time comes. No need to pull my hair out and want to shoot my truck like you wanted to do this past week

Stay out of the post if you don't want people asking questions. It's that simple. And you can have a say in what people ask when you actually get a 408 and have some general knowledge of one.

Oh, yes...because I'm such an idiot and know absolutely nothing about trucks. ****, I just wanted to see if their were any preferences of companies in this thread, but it seems much too easy for everyone to be a smartass about it. I'll pm a few smart members that run good times and see what they recommend. Thanks guys.
Eagle and Lunati both make reasonably priced 408 rotating assemblies. Depending on your goals, you may want to look into somthing from Callies, but you start getting into some bigger bucks there.
And take a pill and quit being such a whiny bitch jfwy

Thanks, Randy. Just don't want this site to become something its tried real hard not to be in the past. I HATE people treating me like an idiot and I won't take it from anybody!!!! Believe that....

I dont post the comment on connecting rods for you I know what oyu are not an idiot. If you want to get pissed off about it then go ahead. Its just the basics of a 408 have been gone over SO many times its not even funny. 4.03 bore 4 stroke with a 6.125 rod. I guess I missed the part of where you wanted to know brands names as far as which is better an all that. As far as that goes you get what you pay for I learned the hard way. My Eagle crank came to me like a piece of **** it had to be modified and balanced. A eagle rotating assembly will generally run you around 2500 where a lunati assembly will run you close to 4K. If it was me I would be a Lunati or other top brand such as HTC, or Callies then get a set of Eagle forged rods(I have yet to see where someone broke a forged rod due to the rod just being weak there were other circumstances) and go with a set of custom pistons to dial in exactly CR you want. DO NOT GET JE they make a good product but dont know how to read a blue print and make a piston with a shorter skirt to clear a 4.100 stroke crank and their customer service is shitty. I owuld get something else but IMO you should look for something like and go with total seal or hellfire rings I have read alot of good things about these rings and when I refreshen my motor it will get a set of those. Hope this helps you out.

Nice write up. Bad morning to say the least, so pay no attention to me. What kinda money does it usually run to do the actual machine work on the engine? I'm not looking to go overboard with it, so that lunati setup seems to be more of what I'm looking to spend on the assembly. I'm not going to try for a 10 second everyday driver, yet, just a motor I don't have to spray the crap out of to get some nice numbers. Thanks.

Machine work ran me almost 400 to balance the rotating assembly perfect and to bore hone and vat the block. If you buy an eagle crank just make sure the machine shop checks it all out and watch out for the damn piston skirts rocking in the cylinder make sure the skirt wont hit the counter wieght even if the piston is crooked(sp?) in the cylinder. You can get a nice set of 4" bore pistons for 5-600 all day long thats if oyu get a block that only needs to be honed. If you went with a 408 there are alot of off-the-shelf options for you mine had to be custom made cause of the damn 4.100 stroke

When you ge ready to build it let me know I can go indepth of all the problems I ran into and can help you avoid most of them if possible

Will do!!! I'm going to push this 6.0L pretty hard for a few months when I get the tranny back right. Then, I'm going larger and will probably drop the nitrous inplace of a turbo setup. I hate filling bottles!!!!

Cody, you think the problems with the Eagle stuff is because of the "odd" size engine youre building? I'm wanting to build a 408 (really a 427, but dont want to spend the $$ for the sleeving) and wondering your opinion on the Eagle crank for that.
