Your not being realistic with a n/a 5.3L. "lots of TQ" in a 5.3 is about max 350. Check out the dyno section and you will see what I mean. Most n/a 5.3s with cam, boltons, tune, ect, put 330-350 hp and about the same TQ.

Agreed. If you could get 11:1 compression out of it, you might be able to get some decent TQ out of it... But the 241 heads will drop your compression to about 9.0 so they'll actually hurt your chances of getting any TQ out of it. IMO, ditch the 241's either way because they'll barely out flow the 706's. The only difference from your 241's to a set of stock 5.3 heads are they have slightly larger valves and have bigger (+5cc) combustion chambers.

Would they ever mill down enough to bring the compression up any without flycutting?

We may cross paths at some point in time in the future but I doubt it will be any time soon, maybe next track season.

The best way to make torque from a 5.3 is to supercharge or turbo it.

And I think if it was my choice, I think I'd go with the supercharger.

I'm not sure how far you would need to mill them off the top of my head but i'd imagine at least .040 to .050... Then your looking into different length pushrods, intake alignment problems and yes, PTV clearance, depending on how big the cam is.

Well, I guess it's like someone else told me--scrap them. Oh well! Lesson learned. Guess I can re-work the 862's that are on my current motor in the truck. Just out of curiosity with a good educated guess, how much am I looking at for P&P work, up-size the valves ( Do I really need that with the smaller bore?), upgrade the springs, seals, retainers and locks, and a good cleanup?
