I'm pretty sure typing "99 4.3 s10" into google would have yielded more information.
They're great engines for small trucks. I had a 99 2 door blazer and while I always wanted to LS swap it, but the 4.3 power was just fine for my uses and got about 20mpg with a light foot and few mods like electric fan, underdrive crank pulley, modded airbox and filter, and free flowing muffler. The same engine in a RCSB s10 would have been pretty quick.

This engine came in two versions, the LF6 rated at 175 hp (130 kW) - 180 hp (130 kW), and the L35 rated at 180 - 200 hp (150 kW). Only the S-series pick-ups used the LF6, while the full-size trucks, vans and Blazer and Jimmy used the L35 version. The L35 was optional on the S-Series trucks.

My son has a 4.3 S10. It is PITIFUL. Granted, his is a TBI one; but still. It's PATHETIC. It's not detectably better than a 2.8 as far as I can tell, and not any better really than my step bro that has a 3.1 S10. Still totally inadequate. It's bad enough in the minitruck, but can't begin to imagine what possessed some "engineer" to think it was a good idea to put that steaming bucket of horse plop in a full-size truck. AFAIAC they should spend their eternity in Hell driving one around while everybody else gets LQ9s and L92s and such. Definitely not a topic for "performancetrucks.net". Maybe "gasmileagetrucks.net" or something.
