Default 317 heads on stock 5.3?

I have a 5.3 99 NBS and I have a 228R can ready to go in. My friend just offered me some 317 heads for 100$ idk if they'll work good because I'm planning on doing a 100 shot. So would you guys recommend me getting those 317 heads or just stick to mine?

Good heads, but the chambers are WAYYY too large and your 5.3 would be a turd my friend, especially with a huge cam for a 5.3 like a 228r... You could mill them but thats going to bring in custom pushrods etc... i would probably leave the 5.3 heads. Any other head not milled you will lose compression unfortunately.
