Your parts list looks pretty good so far but try and get the spec's on the heads, cam and converter..
As far as it leaving the shop with 500rwhp your friend is highly misinformed if he thinks he can achieve this with the parts list above in a 5.3..Now with a turbo thats a different story

I agree. Just make sure you have the trans. GM's 4L60E's aren't the strongest. I went through 3 before I went to FLT.

What do you mean i'll be kicking myself later for not getting a 6.0? Id rather not touch a 6.0. Those motors are just shitty in general from what i've heard.
Im not paying for the parts. Im just paying for the labor which is $1200. I plan on doing an engine swap later on anyways, when i get a garage built. I am currently saving for a 427. But thats in the future. If I can get this for 1200, why not go for it? And i planned on getting a new trans anyways. Getting a 427, its clear i would need a new trans lol
After all this is said and done, im starting on a 2002 Firehawk Trans Am.

No offense but after reading this thread i get the feel your so called engine builder is just some redneck blowing smoke.
He may know small block chevys and dirt track racing but the LSX world i feel he is not so familiar with!
