Default 1000 HP/Torque. What will it take.

I want to make 1000 hp/torque with a blower... Magnuson, Kenne Bell, Pro Charger.. whatever.

What engine combination will it take? $$$ is a consideration!

I saw a great looking C5 Vette on pg 16 of the Feb issue of GM High Tech Performance mag that used a LQ9 as the base for 427 inches and the article says it makes 600 hp on motor then adds 150 hp of nitrous.

Will 427 inches make 1k hp w/a blower or would it take a blower and some juice?

Or should I start w/a 7 liter block and build from there.. like 454 or something. But this option sounds like a lot more $$. Or would it not be a LOT more?

I have a friend putting down close to, if not 1k rwhp with 347 / procharger f1c

A boosted 427 would make 1k rwhp easily.

With the right blower it wouldn't be a problem.
The times in my sig are from a factory Iron block 370, hand ported 317 heads, PT88, and NO bottle.

If you have to stay with a blower then Procharger would be my first choice but if not I'd strongly consider a turbo.

Don't have to stay w/a blower.. I just like them. I don't like the looks of all the plumbing w/a turbo. I DO like the looks of the blower sitting up there in all it's glory. Maybe it's a geezer thing.

Forged 370 up with about 20lbs would get you damn close with a decent set of heads and a cam of the proper choice..

I like go.... and I like show. I think I can get both. However.... I'm learning to see the beauty of the turbo beast.

Back in the day we called such things... "hairy". If it looked badass then it was hairy and I'm learning just how badass and consequetly "hairy" the turbos really are.

But... I'm such a 50's kid... chrome is so enchanting. My dad had a 59 Caddy for pete's sake! I was thrilled to get permissioin to drive it to the senior prom!! .....

and I thought that the beautiful chrome-covered 57 Chevy's that got rid of their hubcabs and ran just plain wheels (with the nuts showing!) were HAIRY and very cool and likely to be fast, so I got down with hairy.

... the geezer is coming over to the hairy side.

YOUNG PEOPLE..... SHOW ME YOUR HAIRY TURBO'S!!
