Question 08 Suburban Cam Help

I know that cam help threads are a dime a dozen here, but I haven't really seen anyone do a cam swap yet on the GenIV 6.0 motors. Richie tows quiet a bit and just wants some extra torque and more power overall. I think a 212'ish duration cam would fit him well. Anyways, just looking for some insight on what the options are for his truck. Stock these things are turds untuned, but with just a basic tune it hauls some butt for a land yacht haha.

Thanks in advance,

Jake

btw, it's an 08 4x4 3/4 ton 6.0 with 6 speed. brand new.

Take a look at this post https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...0&postcount=10.

Also, do you know the specs on the stock cam. I think that your engine has variable valve timing which will make some difference. I'd want to know more about the max retard and max advance positions of the VVT system before specing out a cam. Also, as I recall, the current 6.0 L heads are the same as the L92 and that will make a difference in determing the valve timing events.

id wait a few thousand miles. that motor and trans is about the best thing gm has made in a long time.

Did he get 373 gears or the 4:10's.

I know our 6.0 with the 4.L80E was a joke the first 8K miles. It would make sick how slow it was, then it got faster and faster.. Now at 14K miles it almost feels good. Still slow but its clicking off 8 second 0-60 runs, but thats ina crew cab turck.

Some on here has a paxton on the 07 2500 burban, he is up to 500 whp through the 4L80E..

I wouldnt go in the motor, all bolt on, then maybe a blower, I think Gm will work with you if dont "open" the motor..

sucks to void the warranty on a 100K mile power train.

Thanks for the replies, and yeah I'd agree on the warranty deal but he's got the money to pay cash for another one if anything happened. I'm getting him to order the K&N and full exhaust. Hopefully it'll free up quite a bit and make it run a decent 1/4.
