Default Speed Engineering Headers - Adding cats

Has anyone tried adding a high flow cat to a set of Speed Engineering long tube headers and y-pipe? For $400 headers and y-pipe and a $100 for a cat, I'm willing to do some hacking on these things to make it work but didn't want to reinvent the wheel if I didn't have to.

I put a single high flow cat after the y pipe on mine. No issues. I clamped it to the y pipe and the muffler shop welded the other side of the cat to the pipe.

If you're doing a single do a 3.5"

The speed engineering Y pipe is 3" off the headers and 3.5" after the merge

Went ahead and ordered the headers. I’m going to get in trouble with my wife but she’ll live. Now to finish the header install on the charger so I can start on this one.

Be prepared to have flanges welded in or at least weld the short section of the Y pipe that slips together and then do the aluminum foil wrap with the 3" band clamps or you're gonna have a lot of leaks. That's my only issue with the headers.

Oreilly sells the 3" clamps. They are in a flat package and they do not have a step in them like some band clamps do. Those worked best and my buddy that's ran a muffler shop for 20 years said he's had the best luck with those, so far they are working better for me than the others i've tried.

I’ve got a welder. I don’t make pretty welds but they don’t leak and that’s all that matters. It’ll be a while before these go on as I’m going to send them to jet hot to get coated before install.
