Default Lowering the front for free?

I have a 2016 Sierra & was looking at Rough Country's 2-4 drop kit & all that is essentially done on the front is relocating the struts to the underside of the control arm. They do include a 1/4" plate, Im guessing to make it an even 2" drop, but could this be done without using the spacer plate? Ive already dropped the rear with 2" shackles & removed the blocks. looking to lower the front a lil & this seems to be a free way of doing so. Thanks!

No way in hell I would do it that way, all of that front end weight hanging on 4 bolts!

Even with grade 8 bolts I wouldn't put the strut under the control arm like that.

Cutting a coil is the free method, most won't do that either.

I bought a coil relocator kit to move the spring further down the strut body, way better way of doing it.

Ran my truck like that for 11k miles with no issues, used some aircraft grade bolts they were about $40 shipped from.

Never had an issue you will need to get some offset bushings for the upper control arms to get the alignment back in spec completely; without them it is close but not close enough for me.

I have a 6.2 4wd so the drop was more like 3-3/8.

I had that kit as well, used "grade 9" bolts from fastenal, but ended up doing it right with spindles. I guess it was okay, I just didn't like the ride too much with factory struts when lowered. I believe I still have the bolts and the little brackets just sitting around somewhere.... If you want them, pay shipping and I'll send them your way. -that's if I still have them.
