Did my first oil change on it myself today...
couple thoughts...
first of all, compared to the 2008, the drain plug is in a much better location, filter is obviously exactly the same as before.
Drain plug is 15mm still
I used K&N 2011 oil filter and Mobil 1 0W20 oil it took somewhere between 8 and 9 quarts, I'd know for sure if I hadn't spilled a large amount down the side of the engine because of the only issue I have with the new setup.
The old LS engines had the filler neck coming out of the valve covers, elevated, at a 90* angle to the engine, etc etc... well the new one isn't any of those things, not to mention that it's tapered on the inside and the funnel that I had didn't fit worth a **** ( see that above mention of oil being spilled ... ) oh well, little kitty litter and some degreaser and pressure washing fixed all that.
This is the first time I've changed the oil on it myself, it's the first change since the last factory service for free at 24,000 miles, there's 29,875 on it now, and the first full synthetic also.
Those of you that are going to be doing your own maintenance once the factory free changes run out, do yourself a favor and get a flexible neck funnel and you'll be golden!

It's to keep you from working on it... There's not even a drain plug on the German cars anymore, that's where it's headed. If they make it easy to maintain they can't get $80+ for a freakin LOF. When $8/hr goober fills it with a gun on a hose angle and restrictions aren't an issue... And the dealer makes their margins!
