The Gen 4 and Gen 5's do much better with a cam on stock converter because the 6L transmission gearing helps.
But what size tire and what gear ratio do you have?
If you have 3.08s and 35" tires its going to be terrible.

Sure they recommended it. They are trying to make some moneys.

You just might find out it doesnt like to hold 6th gear to easy after the cam.
See what gear ratios you have. I dont remember where 2017s hide their RPO codes. They use to be in the glovebox. GU6 is 3.42s

I wouldn't be afraid of running that cam in a 6.2 with a 6l transmission. a good tune will be key. Worst case, if it is terrible stick something small into it like a 2,600 stall. You'll barely notice the difference but the engine will get up into rpm a little easier.

I may be late to the party here as I just saw this but I also have a 2017 6.2 with the 8 speed. I don't believe I can tune my transmission without pulling the module and sending it to HP Tuners to be unlocked. Did you find that to be the case as well or is there another work around for tuning these? I can get to the engine stuff ok but that is where it stops.
Thanks
Dave
