Another Header Question
So I am ordering a D1X this week. I have been looking at headers and the Texas Speed units are half the money of the ARH units with cats. Are they worth it? I will spend the money if I can justify it. I DD my tuck and really don't care to have issues with leaks. I have heard that the ARH's look better after a year of being run but?
Thanks for the input. |
the texas speeds are china made, the ARH/Kooks are made in the states. the header to y-pipe on the texas speed is a slip fit and ARH/Kooks are ball and socket.
If i were you (and i should have done this too) is pickup a set of used Kooks or ARH headers. (PS, i have a set of kooks for sale, zero issues just stocked out most of the truck) |
Arh or kooks

Well I ordered a set of Kooks from RPMSpeed. they were $200 cheaper then Jegs. Going to order the Pro Charger from them today. They are $200-$500 cheaper than anyone else I have shopped. Great guys to work with so far!

Well I received my headers yesterday. I was a little disappointed that there was not an extra bung for a wideband and I did not see any clamps for the slip sections of the mid pipe. I guess I will call Kook's today. I was happy to see the Stage 8 header bolts and the cometic header gaskets.

i ran pacesetters on my old truck, zero issues after 5 years and still looked great.

I was really looking for feedback on headers for the 14+ trucks though. Can't find much of anything so far. The texas speed header and y pipe set is only $10 more than pacesetter and that's the main two I was considering. |
Texas Speed and don't look back... the extra 500% in cost isn't worth it on a daily driver truck for 99% of end users for the "exotic" brands. And the TSPs are just as high quality, just don't have the fancy name recognition.

But again, i'd really like to see some feedback threads just to confirm my assumptions. Rather know than assume. |

I'd never pay kooks or ARH prices. Too many headers out there that make the same power (or within 95% at least) for half or less of the cost. I figured texas speed was the best quality header under $500 and just as good as those mentioned above.

no assumptions here... I was one of the first people around to have LTs on a 2014.... I had pacesetters (great fit and finish) and later TSP (even better) and both made great power and are both 100% worth having over ARH or KOOKS for any of us on a daily driven truck.
And to be clear I wasn't saying you were assuming, I hadn't found any info so I was. |
no worries at all my man, I totally get it! When the pacesetters hit the market I got one of the first sets, maybe even the first set installed by someone outside their group and loved them. I had a set of ARH ordered and canceled it to put the pacesetters on the truck.

Why did you ditch the Pacesetters? Increase the size? |
They had a little bit of surface rust on them, I got the uncoated ones (painted) and they needed to be repainted or coated. Rather than deal with all that nonsense I just bought a set of the TSPs and sold the pacesetters.
I miss that truck every damn day! |
