2017+ Trans and Engine tuning
Well, I have had enough. I have been driving my truck stock now for far too long. The constant v4 to v8 mode is on my last nerve and the truck not being able to figure which of the 8 gears it needs to be in is mind boggling. I知 finding my self driving in manual mode more and more often just to keep it from putting itself in too big of a gear for how fast I知 going. I know I知 going to have to send my T87A trans computer off to get it unlocked but after that I知 kind of lost. It seems like no wants to touch the engine AND trans tuning. Truck is stock with a drop in air filter. Future mods are a 6.2l exhaust with a flapper delete or an aftermarket cat back and an intake. I have a bitter sweet relationship with this truck because of these issues. Any advice on who you guys have had luck with or can tune both would be great.

Are you going to tune it yourself or what is your plan?
Doing simple engine size changes is easy, a little does a lot with engine changes. Like maybe 10-15 small changes can make it act a lot better. The transmissions aren't that bad, I know the 6 speeds pretty good and the 8 speeds can use similar changes for shift speeds, timing and torque converter lock up settings.

I don稚 so much mind the DOD in my wife's Yukon.
The double-digit retarding of the cam makes it feel lethargic in the cruising area.
I started off tuning my wife痴 Yukon by using a spark map from a Corvette and go from there.
GoatRopeGarage on YouTube will be your new best friend.
I致e got the 6l80 in my wife痴 Yukon shifting quick and firm. Nothing crazy but it痴 a more pronounced shift.

I have thought about getting a laptop and hp tuners and learning to tune but I would rather have it tuned so I can start enjoying the truck. I have reached out to Atomic before the end of last year and he said he didn't do tuning on the gen5 engines. He said it was too much of a pain. I understand that but it seems like no one does tuning for them. I don't have much time right now to learn tuning because of other on going projects and commitments. It is something I would like to start playing with but only if I the time to research and play with.
I have seen some of GoatRopeGarage videos. They seem very informative.

My tuner (Sam Miller, owner of AMP) recommends leaving the trans tune alone (mostly).
Start with doing what you can with engine tuning, you may be able to get it where you want it without jacking with the trans tune.. maybe..
My 6 speed annoyed me at first, now it doesn't. We didn't really tune it, I just adapted to it. My shift points, timing, rev limit, fueling have been changed though. And I love it. We're gonna change the torque converter clutch tune some this week, but that's really just for longevity and because I like how the truck felt driving it around the the tcc disabled. But I could easily easily live with it this way if it stayed the way it is now.
