with the 5.3 you still need the 3 bolt cam sproket, but do not need the timing cover.

Allen is correct. I did this on my 07 2500HD. the vvt timing cover has the cam sensor too far out for a standard cam sprocket. I did'nt want to risk a reading problem and have to change it again.

You need the 3 bolt sprocket with the 4x cam sensor. the 05 06 2x cam sensor sprocket will not work. get the latest LS2 cam sprocket with the 4x sensor raised areas.

you will have to turn off the vvt actuator error code with HP tuners. I think its the first one P001.

get Allen to tune it for ya and start smoking tires.....

buy the cam, springs, push rods of your choice

get the L92 timing gear (new style cam gear)
3 short bolts for the new timing gear, or get 3 used timing COVER bolts, and shorten them some.
RTV
Blue Lock-tite
new stock crank bolt

Or just do like I did, buy a 07+ single bolt grind cam, no sprocket or any of that BS needed
