Your not dumb, just mistaken. The 6.0 l96 6.0 motor was put in nnbs vortec max trucks..... its essentially a l76 found in the g8 but with 9.6 compression. I have a nnbs truck.

In the future do yourselves a favor and don’t tighten the headers up to the head before you put the Y pipe on. Makes it to where you don’t have to do any cutting or removing the cross memeber (which takes all of about 5 mins anyways) I’m a wholesaler for them and have installed SEVERAL sets for gmt 800 and 900 and can have either one done in 2.5 hrs start to finish with a buddy.

Good to know.

Any hints for the O2 sensor hitting the body?

I had no issues installing their 1 7/8 headers on my truck aside from the known crappy bolts on the clamps and using a little gasket material to help them seal better.

Sucks yours have had more issues then most. Maybe you got unlucky and got a set from the old batch before revisions were made

Correction....The 07-08 NNBS Vortec Max trucks actually came with the aluminum L76 6.0 (9.7:1), but it is different from the car L76 6.0 (10.4:1) but they oddly share the same RPO code....07-10 2500 Gas Trucks had the Iron LY6 6.0 (9.6:1) and 11+ 2500 Gas trucks have the Iron L96 6.0 (9.6:1)....

Car L76

Truck L76

Truck LY6

Truck L96

I had fittment issues with my tsp headers and y pipe, i have a 2006 Sierra z71 with the 5.3, the headers and y pipe were supposed to be a direct fit. I left the header bolts loose while attaching the y pipe, all was looking well. Once I tightened the header bolts the headers were making slight contact with both the driver and passenger side on the frame, and the crossover from the driver side to the passenger side was slightly rubbing the drive shaft, I loosened the bolts and tried some different things with no resolve. I spent about 5 hours working on it to get the clearance needed but ended up having to heat and make small indentions with a pry bar to keep them from making contact. I checked my motor mounts and transmission mount for slack or play and they seemed tight and looked good. They did bolt up to my factory cat back like it was supposed to. I was kind of disappointed because the headers and pipes were well put together and look to be good quality just didn’t fit like I had hoped. I would have sent them back and tried a different set but instead of dropping the cross member to remove the factory y pipe I cut it out after I had mocked up the headers. I needed the truck because it’s my DD so I had to make due with what I had, the clamps provided did leak like others have stated but I put some copper silicone on the pipes and slid them in then added some to the seams and put the clamps over that.

I had Speed Engineering on an FBody and they rubbed multiple places and also leaked very badly....never again....while the savings over the big name brands was nice, hearing the headers contact the frame every time I accelerated was not worth the savings....since Ive had 2 sets of ARH headers and currently a set of Kooks on a couple different vehicles, they were far away 10X the quality of the Speed "Engineering", aka chinese garbage, both ARH and Kooks had PERFECT clearance everywhere and ZERO leaks, like everything else in life you get what you pay for....
