I was thinking of getting this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Airai...ht_3903wt_1589
then getting a good filter for the stock box like a k&n or an amsoil filter. Is this worth it or should i just save up and get an actual cai?

I'm no expert at the cold air intakes and who makes the best one. There are a lot of mixed results on this subject. It is my opinion however that replacing the factory tube should make up a world of difference. I think you can drill holes on bottom of box to allow more air to enter. The airaid intake tube is a great start and should upgradable by buying the airbox later on if you wanted to I'm sure.

Now filters is a different matter. There will be different opinions on an oiled filter vs. dry filter. Some are true believers in the dry filters. I think someone like AFE and AEM make them. Someone else chime in with some better info.

The amsoil filter is a dry filter and the k&n is the oiled. I guess i should have asked that as well. What do you all see as the biggest difference in these filter types?

I did the air raid tube, and it made all the difference.

I put in a K+N becouse there pretty cheap for a panel, and wow nothing. Plus I already have the oiling kits. You just have to be very light on the oil and let it dry a bit.

Even if you don't want to wash your filter yourself get the tube.

I bought my 07 NNBS very early on, and at the time the only manuf. making cold air kits were K&N. It was an open filter-cone style, and replaced the tube and all. I liked it, but for the price, not worth it IMO. When AirAid came out with the Modular Intake Tube only kits, I bought one of the tubes, sold my K&N full kit.

Currently running stock airbox-modded with my dremel tool--Tru-Flow factory style filter and the AirAid Intake Tube. IMO, my current setup is every bit as good--if not better than the K&N style if for no other reason, than my intake temps being cooler. I definitely think that with the NNBS the mass of intake ducting from the factory is the biggest thing holding back on the intake side of things. You could save a hell of a lot of $$$ by just getting the tube, and going with a filter at some time down the line if you want to.

And just to look out--I think the AirAid tube kit is cheaper than the one listed on ebay. I can't remember, but I want to say I bought mine for less than 100.

i like my k&n but id go volant if i hadnt gotten a great deal on my k&n. AEM is good stuff as well from what I've seen but i don't think from what ive read between those 3 u could say 1 makes a significant upgrade over another. not like one gives u 30 more hp in other words.

Definitely get the tube at first. You can always go back and put in the filter and box.
