Default water in oil?

Take a look fellows....
Am I going to have to look for a blown head gasket?

Maybe. These ls motors dont have anywhere else where water can meet oil like the old sbc that i know of. Did all the oil that came out look like that?

Not really. I could see some hint of it when I dumped the filter but the oil draining just looked black....but ofcourse I may have just been in shock that the plug looked like this.
I had changed the oil a few weeks ago and just drove this truck from Md to Fla and back. 2,000 mile trip. It ran perfect as usual. It sat for a week. I warmed it up with the remote start and dumped the oil.
Is there any way this much condensation could develop or am I going to be tearing this apart?

Does the truck sit for long periods of time?

Other than this last week, no.
Its my retired parents truck. They're always on the road. short trips. Maybe 10-20 miles a shot.

I've read other threads of intake gaskets leaking on the Fbody causing hydrolock from water dripping down on top of the intake. Don't know if its happened on Tahoes or not.

There are no water passages in or near the intake on the LS motors that can leak into it like the old SBC.

if you've got $25, send out an oil sample and they'll tell you exactly whats in there.
that'd be some hefty condensation to cause that!
hows the coolant level?

Coolant level is normal. I marked the bottle so I could see if it goes down.
Where/who does oil samples?

Also, there was no signs of this on the dipstick or the fill cap.

Yeah I meant water from an outside source....few threads on Tech about water laying on intake being sucked in causing broken starter/hydro lock situation.

I've always used an outfit called Blackstone. Free kit for sending in samples, $25 per sample for a very detailed analysis. Always been happy with them, even when they told me I had antifreeze in my oil and I needed a head gasket.
