Yeah it sucks that the only shop around here that'll do differentials and other things is garbage and does **** work. Oh well pretty soon ill learn it all and be Mr fix-it. I wouldn't mind upgrading to 14bolt you know how difficult?

14b is not too tough at all and there are multiple options.

this is not the first of the tru-tracs i have seen let go. another reason to stick with eaton LSD.

Sorry for your luck thats never fun.

TrueTracs suck for drag racing. They break often in car applications they just cant take initial shock loads thats what does them in. The stock 8.5" is a great diff though it gets slagged on often but its really a stout unit BUT it has to have the right parts installed.

To make it bullet proof you need to upgrade to 31 or 33 spline BOLT IN axles. This can be done with either c-clip eliminators ( which I think suck ) or weld new housing ends onto the housing. You could even go for 35 spline if you want. Eaton or perhaps Mosers new wavetrac ( lifetime guarantee not to break ) and a solid pinion spacer and you could pull wheelies with your trucks before it let go.

Not saying this is "cheap" but the 8.5" stocker is worth upgrading it can take the abuse its just how its set up in factory form thats crapola
