Truck Not Shifting

Quick question.. The other day driving around minding my own business my truck would not shift at all.. so i pulled over to see if i could shift in reverse or any other gear and still nothing.. I turned the truck off for a minute or so and cranked it right back up and it worked! i can go in reverse and drive. While getting back on the road i would guess 1/2 mile it did the same thing. It wouldnt shift. I can keep reving it up but not shifting.. My truck is a 2008 1500 with 55k miles. Any help would be appriciated. Thanks

Possibly the trans filter is clogged?

Is it not moving at all when you say not shift or sticks in one gear?

Its stopping up the filter with whatever is coming apart inside. looks like rebuild time is upon you!

when i crank the truck back up and drive it it seems like its shifting to 3rd gear and then it wont do anything. I'll drive it again and make sure what exactly it's doing.

does it sound like something electrical since when i turn the truck off and back on it works fine until 1/2 mile down the road it will do it again.

If the filter is clogging up then thats your problem..

the particles fall when you turn the truck off..
crank it up and it sucks them off the bottom of the pan.

pull the pan and let us know what you see

Check filter, fluid etc. If you have someone with HP Tuners they have a setting that purges all the air in the lines and checks all the pressures and make sure everything is how it needs to be.

Don't remember the exact function. Will be on laptop later and can look it up.
