All the wood grain pieces then see if there's anything else that needs it

Thanks, I was undecided at first but I think after I get everything else wrapped it will really tie in well with the dark interior, and if I get tires of it I can pull it all off and I'm only out 50 bucks :)

03sierraslt 01-07-2013 08:30 PM

Did you use heat to get it to follow the contour of the gauge housing?

Yes sir, when you hit it with a heat gun it gets very flexible

musclecity85 01-07-2013 08:36 PM

how durable is it? does it look like it can take the occasional knick or scratch?

03sierraslt 01-07-2013 08:37 PM

Could you PM me a link to this stuff, I may look into trying it on a couple things.

It has a good texture and is thick, I think it will hold better from scuffs than the factory pieces

was there any prep work besides like degreasing or any adhesion promoter required?

be careful with the sticker type vinyl stuff. It can get gooey if it gets hot inside your truck.
I did the Carbon Fiber fabric with spray glue in mine to prevent that.

RS/SS 4.8 01-08-2013 08:57 AM

That looks pretty good. Too bad I had all my interior pieces painted black or I would do this.

NKPPhil 01-08-2013 10:33 AM

Man, that looks nice :thumb: NO comparison to the cheesy factory "wood."

Three6GMC 01-08-2013 12:28 PM

Looks good I did that 3m stuff to my little bros BMW and the 3m product is very easy to use and very forgiving. Doesn't get goey at all when you add heat it's designed to be heated. Very tough stuff too you can bump and nick it with no worries it's not to thick but thick enought to be very durable. My little bro has had it in his car for about a year and a half now and still looks like the day we put it on and that's with weather changes (Texas summer heat) and contoured pieces. Best thing about it is if you dont like it pull it off and the pieces undernieth are still the same way as when you wrapped them it doesnt affect the part at all. It's pretty cheap too.

I am not a fan of wrapping interior parts in fake carbon but on these trucks, this looks GOOD. Very nice man. I may end up doing the wood grain in the old Burb.

That is the way I looked at it. It was cheap enough if I didn't like it, I just pull it up, no harm no foul.

ak2007r6 01-08-2013 02:55 PM

Looks great!

tiffo60 01-08-2013 07:51 PM

Any one know if/how the wood strip comes off the steering wheel?

Three6GMC 01-08-2013 08:27 PM

Don't think it comes off but could be wrong. If you take it off tho doesn't it leave a good indention in your steering wheel?

1CL3ANSUP3RSPORT 01-08-2013 10:15 PM

Looks good!Im glad mine didn't come with wood trim, was this only on the GMC's?

TIM Z 01-09-2013 05:05 AM

Cheverolet has a wood grain package also, as well as brushed aluminum, etc.

My '11 LTZ came with the nasty fake wood. I don't understand why they think it's an "upgrade."

TIM Z 01-09-2013 06:08 PM

You got skills man ! That steering wheel looks like it may be tedious ?

Nice job !

ak2007r6 01-09-2013 06:10 PM

I bought 2 rolls of 12" x 48"

Nice job !

It was tricky lol, it came just shy of 48" of material so my roll barely had the length to go around it
