No I ran some wire inside the weather stripping in the A Pillar, and mounted the antenna along the firewall above the wiring. Ran some wire the the end and bolted it in the bottom. I think it is a 7MM nut and bolt. No loss in signal, except around tall trees in the hills, but stations are bad their regardless. I actuall pickup a better signal in open areas. I picked up a radio station from 90 miles away (North Orange county from San Diego.)
