Pulling motor and converter install

Kind of two questions here but If i pull the motor, would I be able to just pull the old converter and install the new one? I thought I read somewhere that the trans had to be pulled and put on its tail shaft to add fluid to the new converter but I had never done any converter installs before and wasn't sure if this was necessary or not. Secondly, whats the easiest way to pull the motor on the nnbs trucks? I know the intake needs to come off(mine already is) but will the accessories, crank pulley, and water pump clear the fan shroud or will the all need to be removed?
