NNBS 1500 CC 1/4 time?
 
Just seeing what time range you guys think I should be in with my 07' Sierra 1500 CC with the 5.3L and 3.73's? I picked up the Edge Evolution this last week (using for a couple months til I do a custom tune) and it has a setting on it to let you test your 0-60 and 1/4 mile times which I thought was a pretty sweet deal. Well I took it out for my first spin and after about 3 runs with it my best run was a 15.41 in the 1/4 miles @ 91.3 MPH and my best 0-60 time was 6.99. The first test I did I had the traction control on and my 0-60 was 7.18 and 1/4 mile was a 15.54 so just trying to get an idea and see if these numbers sound about right, I'm no gearhead so figure I'll ask those of you who are. The only mods my truck has is the Edge programmer and Magnaflow exhaust. I was only running the programmer at the 2nd lowest setting of 4 settings because for the 3rd and 4th levels you need 91+ and I'm still running my cheap 87 but not for long. Let me know guys and also what bolt-on mods I can do to get my 1/4 mile down a little (intake and TBS are on the way).

I haven't done much of anything to mine, but I suggest long tube headers, stall converter, underdrive pulleys, 160 degree thermostat.... Most people will tell you to stay away from a throttle body spacer, but you can always use it for nitrous if you want. I'm really not a nitrous fan myself, but I think that's what I would do if I had a spacer...

Oh, I almost forgot, get that throttle body ported and polished; it gives you a little better launch and i felt a bit more power up top.... Mostly it'll help with throttle response, and these trucks need as much help as they can get with that.....

By the way, those look like pretty decent times to me for a truck the size of a train.... My brother's 92 rcsb with a 305 gets a 0-60 like 2 seconds slower than yours.... :D

Where could I go to get my throttle body ported and polished? I can honestly say I've never even heard of it but then again I am low on knowledge in the gearhead world lol. I have heard mixed feelings on the TBS though, some people say it'll help with MPG and a lil HP others say it's all B.S. and just an extra piece I'm throwin in the engine bay, figured I'd take my chances. 160 degree thermostat was on my to-do list as was headers (thinking of going Gibson but not sure yet). Also not sure about the underdrive pulleys, what kind of help would those give me exactly? And as for runnin the nitrous with the TBS, I'm staying away from the nitrous haha don't want to run into any problems.

There are some guys that do their own throttle bodies with a Dremel, but I did it the easy way, I just got a hold of mark shaner (pretty well known for his tb's) since he lives like 30 mins away from me and he ported mine and I picked it up the next day...
the pulleys basically change the ratio that your accessories are being driven at, reducing the drag and freeing up a few hp, at least that's what my understanding is.
as far as headers go, people recommend pacesetter long tubes, because of their relatively low price.... You can get them at Texas speed, sponsor on the right--->>>>>
I wouldn't recommend shorty headers, since they give you small, if any, gains in power/torque......

Saw a white crew cab at the track last week with a programmer and intake, best he could do was a 15.9. Don't know what gears he had but he said he had the 5.3L.

I'll look into getting my TB ported then and find out also on the headers because I was hoping to do headers sometime within the next month or two, it just sucks to live here in CA and want performance because emissions are a pain in the ass here. I'll see what Texas Speed can do for me on the headers.

And outlawz thanks for the boost of confidence for me haha do you know what kind of reaction time he had? I ran my truck again today and same time 15.41 @ 91.2 MPH and that's with spinnin the tires a little. My intake and TBS come in next Wednesday or Thursday so I'll put them on Saturday morning and run it again and see if it makes any difference for me.

Not saying yours wont run that, some trucks are faster than others. The best time the cc had was a 15.9, most runs were 16-16.5. That isn't bad for a crew cab. He did have exhaust also. His reaction times weren't that good and it was slow off the line, but once it got moving it rolled out. There are plenty fast crew cabs out there. You have a good looking truck btw.

SIERRA323 my truck has a Belltech 2/5 drop runnin 285/40/22's and thanks, wish I had got the McGaughy's 4/7 like you though, looking to be lower.

OUTLAWZ on my runs I've been doing my reaction times have pretty consistently been between .60-.75 and on my fastest run my reaction time was a .61 and I know what you mean, my truck seems so slow off the line but man when it shifts from 1-2 the pull through 2nd is incredible and from 3-4 as well. You need to work on your reaction time, but it would probably be better with a real tree at the track.:D
