Default Need help to beat buddy's SRT

So I have a buddy that has a SRT 8 Jeep with bolt ons and right now we are dead even... I think I need to add something to put me back out front. I have 3.42 gears but im not sure going to 4.10s are really going to help that much. What are yalls thoughts? Gears? Head work? Nitrous??

Nitrous or forced induction .

Or for free try weight reduction.

what kind of times are you running currently and by how much do you want to take him? Those SRT8s are fast, but if you already have him neck and neck, it might take something small, like a weight reduction (the SUVs are pig heavy and a weight reduction might get him top end).

We ran at the 1/8 mile and we were running within a couple hundredths of a second within each other every run. From a roll I take him by a tiny bit but that was before he just got his tune. I don't really want to cut wait every time i race him though. I would consider forced induction but i think my cam might be too large for a blower cam.

If you're on a budget, a 100 dry shot would walk him with ease. It can be done for under 300 bucks. If not, I suggest getting a plate kit. I know I was running 3 lengths behind a 12.9 second SRT8 Jeep before my stall. I assume that's better now. If I'd have sprayed it would have been the exact opposite.

After weight reduction I'd ask what size tires you run. If they're tall, gears are going to make a huge difference (unless you're super worried about a little highway mileage). Expensive on a 4x4, but no additional stress on the motor or trans.
