Man it’s gonna be a disaster for me because plan on replacing my L76 with a 6.2 LS3 from a camaro/corvette AND putting in the 6l80

I don’t think the ls3 has vvt so all you need is the new harness and trans cooler lines (I used the one from iamkeniffs thread) since my 6.2 has vvt I had to add two wires to my harness and change the fuel pump connector from 10 to 8 pin (mentioned in Iamkenniffs) you will most likely have to do the fuel pump but not the vvt wires and after you get that new harness it’s pretty straight forward you don’t even have to modify the trans support or shifter linkage (I didn’t and had no issues) I bought brand new trans lines to fit the 6l80e and that was basically it got it tuned and it runs and drives well shifts good but I have one electrical gremlin to figure out p0606 code under decent load it seems like a tuning issue (the pcm I used is used and was tuned using another 6.2l fueling files so kinda sketchy) like moto said stick to the same years for modules and you should be golden just my 2 cents figured I should correct my previous statement of “be ready for a lot of work” since I could have saved myself a lot of work doing a lil more research in the beginning

I will add my truck is the same as yours however my swap was with a 2010 6.2l l92 2010 6l80e with 2010 tcm and my pcm was from a 2010 suburban 5.3l with the 6l80e and was reflashed to 6.2l fuel tables so if your going with a different year os id do some research maybe get ahold of a tuner to make sure the year your going with will communicate with your 2007

Sure, in reading your other post I am not sure what issue could be. But if you just kept the base 5.3 OS in the Ecm, that could be causing the issues you are describing. If you have the VIN from the donor engine and trans I would suggest refleshing both with the original gm flashes (i.e. Tis2Web, not anecessarily aftermarket programmer).

Actually, one question on the VSS output did you change the value?

Why did you replace the instrument cluster?

The cluster was changed to read PRNDM, the 4 speeds read PRND321. The old cluster worked with the TU/TD, it just didn't tell you what gear you were in.

Ok so I am in the process of doing this swap. Everything is already installed and I am having some issues. My truck is an 08 silverado vmax that has dod delete and cam. I found a 2011 6l80e with low miles for a really good price. I used a 2012 2500 gas harness and switched over the connectors. I spoke with the tuner at a shop that does LS and 6l80 swaps in jeeps. He said i should be able to get a ECM out of a 2011 and and he can move the engine tune from my pcm to the 2011. So we did that and the truck will not crank. The dash is displaying "service theft deterrent system". also on the gear selector it shows its in 3 no matter where i have the gear selector. He said he disabled all the VATS in the 2011 computer. The truck is now at his shop but he is at PRI so im just trying to get some ideas for when he gets back.

Does he need to flash all the computers with the same vin then tune with HPuners?
Is the harness I used correct? The reason I ask this is there was a couple extra wires on the engine harness to chassis harness connector on the engine side (vss and data wires). Also i had to take the wires for the hi and lo speed fan control from my stock harness and install on the 2500 harness.

Not trying to hijack the thread but any help would be awesome!!

Your Ecms are NOT compatible, while they are probably both E38s, the 08 is different than the 11. The OS change in early 09 and theyou cannot be mixed and matched.

Now for your other questions 1, the Vins shouldn't really matter, I have 3 different Vins in my truck with no issues. 2 as for the harness, the best thing would be to check it against the old one.

So I cant use the 2011 ecm at all or does the tuner just have to start from scratch on the 2011. The reason im trying to use the 2011 ecm is because the tcm is a 2011 and its easier to change the ecm than the tcm. Maybe ill just habe to bite the bullet and change the tcm.
