Go with the longtubes first....you won't be sorry. my new truck is stock and has 3.73's and I don't know if I'd want 4.10's unless I was putting on 35" or larger tires......I def agree with the other guys that say tubes first

I've driven a bunch of trucks on factory rubber with 4.10s. It really feels nice, and definitely doesn't bother me. As Phil said, if I could have ordered mine with the 4.10s instead of the 3.73s, I would have.

4.10s with the factory tire size is the way to go IMO.

2000ish @ 65mph
closer to 2200 @ 70mph

What is there not to like? I was getting just over 19mpg @ 65 before I did my heads/cam upgrade.

Gotalmighty.....I don't think I'd get 16mph if someone towed me to work not to mention 19mph. What do you get now since the upgrades? I loved my vvt cam in my old truck, but the mileage did suffer...

Proper gearing can help mpgs. If I bolted on 35s, my truck would get 4.56s without hesitation.

I was like you until I got a bed cover. That made a huge difference on my highway mileage. You are right on teh cam killing mileage.......I can only get 15mpg highway now and that is if it is flat.

I try to preach this to people all the time and it falls on deaf ears. I know so many guys that get lift and then go with 35s or 37s and never even think about gears. I worked with a guy that spent 12k on a huge suspension lift and had 37s and when I asked him about gears he didn't even knowwhat I was talking about. I tried convincing him that he needed gears and that his speedometer was WAY off but he just wouldn't listen.

Yeah every time I mention that I wish I had lower gears than my 3.73s for my 33s, people ask me what I would rather have. I explain that 4.30s would be perfect, but since that isn't available for my differentials and 4.10s isn't much of a jump, I'll probably just stick with what I've got. Invariably I get the comment that the only way they think I need 4.10s is if I did 35s or 37s; when I say that I would do 4.56s at that size, they look at me like I've got four heads. I have a buddy who bought the same truck as me at the same time, but he got a 5.3/6L80E instead of the 6.2, and lifted it on 20s/35s instead of my level on 33s. I suggested gearing to 4.56 from the factory 3.42s, and he looked at me like I was nuts and said it was just fine after he threw the exhaust on. You can lead a horse to water...
