Default Long tube header question

This fall I'm going to install a set of ARH 1 7/8 longtube headers. Now I know that when installed they will throw a CEL for the rear o2's and I will have to go in and shut the O2's off with the tuning software, but my question is will my truck pcm show a ready state if plugged into a state emissions machine? I just want to make sure I don't screw myself by installing these and not passing a emissions test. Thanks for any insite and reply's.

Depends on your tuner but it can be accomplished.

Bascially when a tuner goes inside your ECM to "Tune out" the rear o2's it will display on the inspection machine "N/A" Meaning that the inspection machine doesn't see any Rear O2'S. This doesn't count againest you when you go get the inspection, what the machine is looking for is "Not Ready" which in harris county only 2 are allowed now (A few years ago when i was doing OBD2 inspections it was 3.

Good luck brother

JetBlack, what state were you testing in? I'm curious because I'm in Oregon, and the testing is all OBDII every two years in my part of the state.

Well Oregon isn't the energy capital of anything, but the weather inversions make for some very bad breathing days. They started the testing in 1975 in two pretty large areas around the cities with the problem.

Oh well, oh well ... just gotta deal with it.

I was testing in Harris county (Southeast texas) from 2003-2007. The only vehicle in the state of texas that get a two year emission sticker are new vehicles, other than that its every year here.
