Default Lever on pcm plug - Issues

My buddy has an 09 that has a lever for the pcm plug that swings 180 degrees to lock the plug into the pcm. He removed one and when installing the new one he can't get the lever to engage closed, which will tighten to the Pcm.

I haven't dealt with this before and I am not there. Any insight so I can help him or in case I have to go give him a hand?
Thanks.

Everything needs to be lined up perfectly, and you push in the connector while closing the clamp. Something is just not lined up properly.

he can't turn the lever even without it hooked up. If it is an alignment issue wouldn't he be able to do that?

I don't have one nearby to check, but I'm pretty sure the lever won't fold over if the connector isn't in place.

Some of these connectors have 2 little tabs on the side that keep it locked back. Usually they release when inserted in a connector properly.

maybe you need to give it a little assistance by pulling the 2 arms out just a little so they can unlock when seating in the connector.

I also dont have 1 in front of me so I can't see what is going.

Turns out he was not pushing it in hard enough (I know, I know) in fear of damaging something. Got it connected now.

He had the battery unhooked and then hooked it up and let it sit with K.O.E.Off for 30 minutes. Now he is getting a REP code..

What is the code number, and what work was being done on the truck?

Stock truck. Just had a tuned pcm so he is putting the stock pcm back in to sell it. Not sure what codes are thrown. He said it shifts into gear super hard. I would hate to tell him to drive to get scanned and it cause some damage. Can't low voltage cause Rep?

Many things can, including low voltage.

Anybody near him with HPT or EFI?
