installing my 90mm TB and M.I.T. today got?

Should i punch a hole in the stock air box? Maby I could rig up a ram air on the cheap.

11Silvy 07-31-2012 09:30 AM

You could but you have like a bada$$ truck why do that? You can get an airaid jr for 150.00 off ebay or amazon.

JCunningham 07-31-2012 01:33 PM

isnt the jr just a mit with a filter for the stock box? I going to install a Amsoil EA Nano Fiber filter in it.

JCunningham 07-31-2012 02:04 PM

as soon as i got it all apart it started pooring out:mad:

AndysC3 07-31-2012 02:04 PM

yes, You could open up the bottom of the stock box to let a little more air in. And its not hard to fab up a "ram air" tube. I used 4" flexible vacuum hose. some have used pvc pipe. either way it will help get cool air into the intake.

Pic of the 90mm installed ? And also how does it run without tune adjustment ? Any power from it ?

well the MIT could be a little longer but I got it to fit in the poring rain. Started it up and it ran just like be for. idles around 600rpm just like with the stock on. The Throttle response is a little better. Feels faster because you don't have to give it as much peddle to get it to speed up. From what iv read it gets better over 300 or so miles. There is still a hesitation when you give it gas because of the torque management. The MIT does have some drone that I do not like. its enough to over power the radio going up hill to maintain speed. but for now id say its a improvement thats worth it if you have the cash laying around.

AndysC3 07-31-2012 11:27 PM

haha, try having 4.56 gears, LT, ory and a 4" exhaust being force fed with a procharger. Shit gets loud lol. Good thing there's not many hills around here lol. Looks good.

whats you ETC scalar set at? reason i ask, because i haven't been able to dial in the idle on hp tuners with a ls3 TB with the correct scalar number.

I have no idea i just bolted it all on how can i find out

forklord 08-01-2012 01:18 PM

Theres no way u can actually notice that much sound coming from the intake.....i have the same one and an airaid oiless filter. Maybe im going deaf lol...

JCunningham 08-01-2012 11:25 PM

It was loud but ya I have a problem hearing things with background noise. It could have also been because I am not use to hearing it so it stuck out more then if i was use to it.

youngone2011 08-02-2012 06:44 AM

Just ordered my 90 mm ... 139.85 shipped lol

Sanster 08-02-2012 09:49 AM

When you put the 90mm TB on do you have to buy a bigger intake tube or does your stock tube still fit?

rjwz28 08-02-2012 11:45 AM

Stock tube still fits. However, the stock tube has a ton of restrictions; if you're going to put a bigger throttle body in, you really should replace the factory intake tube.

I have the same problem with my mit, its a bit too loud for my taste.

The stock air tube will not work. It does not have clearence for the TB motor. You will need to have a aftermarket air tube like a mit or cai
you can see here were the tube hits the tb motor. both throttle bodys are the same size were the tube fits so you will have no problem mounting a MIT or CAI with the new TB.

Oh, wow, I didn't know there was interference with the TB motor, I just knew both throttle bodies had the same OD. Regardless, an MIT is a good idea if you're looking for more flow anyway.

07vmax1500 08-04-2012 08:01 AM

stupid question but any changes in mileage with the 90mm

JCunningham 08-04-2012 12:55 PM

don't really know yet. I would say no because your still only giving it enough gas to achieve the same speed.

rjwz28 08-04-2012 02:53 PM

:werd:

As long as the tuning is spot-on there should not be any noticeable difference.

The stock one is black from Some firey back fires lol

Jake Wade 08-06-2012 07:36 PM

I have to agree, the Airaid MIT is a bit loud when you mash on it,especially with the stock exhaust. Kinda like opening up the back barrels on a quadrajet. I dont notice it much at all now since the cat back I installed drowns it out.

Please post up a review after you have driven with it for awhile!
