Default I think I'm over this 4.8

So I have a 08 silverado 4.8 2wd rcsb. It has a k and n intake jba headers flowmaster cat delete corvette servo 3:73 blackbear tune truck runs strong. My friend has a Lexus gs400 that car stock runs 14 sec in a quarter mile.. And I can keep up with him. I know I still need a shift kit and a stall and a cam. But a few people told me I'm going to lose a lot of top end if I cam it.
I guess it's time for an upgraded specially when you be trying to race lighting srt10 ram mustangs evo sti gto camaro ss etc... So I'm guessing a ly6 upgraded or a cam or a used procharger. Just need some pointers and trying to save some money.

Who the hell told you you will lose top end with a cam??? Obviously people that can not buy a clue.. You put a decent cam, converter in it, it will be a new truck.. If your going to try and run with cars like that you need to spray it or boost it.. Then you can be a problem to them.. Even with a cam, converter I doubt you will get any more then mid 13's unless they are huge... You need to set a budget, keep in mind what kind of driving you do, to decide on the cam/verter combo you make..

Yep or the LY6 swap with right cam, and setup should get you down into the 12's and might get close to staying emissions leagle.

There's still some gains to be had with a cam, longtubes, converter. Though a new 6.0 with those Mods would be awesome.

my cammed 6.2/3200 converter/4:10s on DRs only went 13.0 @ 104.2 in 97-98* weather with 115-120* IATs.

12.73@104.54 with just a 3600 converter swap and 73* weather, 100-110 IATs. backed it up with a 12.74@104.95 keep in mind this is the last 2 passes i ran when my trans was going out on me.

budget is needed.

4.8/LS6 cam/KBracing 72mm front mount/ARP head studs and boom you'll have a mid12sec truck easy PLUS you can always upgrade later to a bigger motor to get more HP/TQ

just my .02

It really comes down to what you want to do and what you want to spend.

Like the others said you can still mod the 4.8 and get some good numbers out of it still or you can do the 6.2 swap and be a hell of a lot further ahead for the same or less money and have a better platform for future build.
