Default Horsepower help!

Hey guys. What is the better route to go, NX Express proton plus kit/GM EFI 90mm kit, and HP Tune? Or Cam, Springs, Pushrods etc Plus HP tune? I am torn between the 2 routes.
Not trying to make my truck a drag truck (yet)
Its not a daily driver, has 75,000 mi and just a every so often driver.
07.5, ccsb, 3.73 factory gears, longtubes, ory, cai and lowered rear. Truck is babied...

I'm looking to get 400-450 RWHP....please dont harp on me too much, I've heard guys making 365-450 with said upgrades on several forums and tech articles. But cant always believe what you hear...

Unless it's a Denali or he swapped the motor its a 5.3...6.2 wasn't available until 09+ except Denali..if it is has the VortecMax package then he could have a 6.0 but I think he would mentioned it....if has factory 3.73s it's most likely 4x4 Z71 or special order

Sorry to burst your bubble but no cam will get you even close to 450 rwhp plus if you get a decent size cam you will need to budget for a new converter as well...a cam plus 150 shot and then you will be at 450+ rwhp...depending on your goals with the truck it's hard to say what's best...if u want bang for buck then nitrous all day no question...but a decent cam will get you about 340-360 rwhp...do a search there are plenty of builds on this site for reference or contact a sponsor and tell them your goals and I'm sure they can get u squared away

not nessisarily, my 08 came with factory 3.73s and its 2wd and was not a special order. its part of the max tow package i believe. unless they changed the options between 07.5 and 08

Yes, 5.3. And yes has the factrory 3.73 rear. Came with the max tow package. I'm pretty sure I would know since I bought this truck brand new on Halloween of 07!

@01formulaTA......I talked to Nelson Perf and they said with DOD delete, Cam, Springs and a custom tune from HP, I'd barely get into the 330 hp mark. That sounds very depressing to me....If I went the cam route, I'd love to be at 340-360...that would be a good start I think.

It may only "barely be 330hp" but with the right cam and a Nelson tune, it will feel like a whole new truck. With a converter, it will be a lot of fun to drive.

I swapped out gears and got an Autocal tune... So much better to DD, on hwy, and overall driving experience, much faster too. But, I didn't increase HP much or at all probably. Just don't get stuck on HP numbers unless you're looking for track times.

I'm sure you know that you can't do much at all without starting to think about your 4l60, so there's that to consider too.
