Honest opinions please

I seem to be one of the very few lifted NNBS trucks on this site. I just wanted to get ya'lls opinion on this bumper on my truck. Only pic ive found.

i think its a little to much diamond plate to be honest. i like your truck as it is. is there a specific reason you want to go with that bumper?

stevensLS1 02-11-2010 04:31 PM

I agree with you on that. I mainly want it because the brush guards that fit over the front bumper almost look too wide for the front end. This is really the only bumper replacement ive found for these trucks. Im not sure if I could get like a crinkle coating over the bumper.

I think it's a little much for a half ton. I would get one of those lower bull bars.

Noah Burns 02-11-2010 05:22 PM

why? what need is there for that type of bumper on your truck?

02-11-2010 06:02 PM

i think it would look aggressive

Noah Burns 02-11-2010 06:25 PM

I can't think of anything worse that just putting a big heavy bumper on a truck because of the "look" there are so many people up here in DFW that do it, it is pathetic...

onebad03 02-11-2010 07:49 PM

its not my taste but ive seen alot worse. what about something like this?

that thing looks like it could plow threw a house and keep goin.

2007chevy5.3l 02-12-2010 06:48 AM

I would leave it the way it is. Stock bumper.

a_guerrajr 02-12-2010 07:43 AM

why don't you go over to gmfs.com and see what they have on theirs...

it does look a little bulky

bull bar will do just fine.

this is what i would also do

RandomHero 02-12-2010 08:59 AM

I wouldn't get a bull bar. It has almost no functionality and they don't look cool at all either. That opinion of course. Like someone suggested, I'd spend the money for a Road Armor bumper. Theyre badass and have functionality too. I would first start colormatching everything. Right now your truck just looks like a W/T package with a lift and tires. Make it shine!

stevensLS1 02-12-2010 09:27 AM

I think the bull bars look rather gay. It looks like its trying to do something or be something its not. Im not really big on shine either. I wouldnt mind the color matching but I like a little chrome. The road armor stuff just isnt my taste really. Yes it might be pathetic but just its mainly for looks and think it will make my truck look a little more agressive and different from everything else out there.

Dude we're from Texas. You can find 10 trucks in just about any parking lot with ranch hands on them. Road armor bumpers are at least somewhat different around here.

Yeah that is true but the thing is Im trying to save as much money as possible to buy a home and if I can save a grand on the ranch hand vs the road armor then im that much closer.

TXsilverado 02-12-2010 10:57 AM

unless hitting some bump gates or driving through deer country i like the OEM look best. i see your in houston so i know your daily drive isnt like that...but maybe a deer lease? i wouldnt take that truck into the woods lol.

8.1 HD 02-12-2010 11:33 AM

Unless they are put on to serve a purpose, all those bumpers look good...on someone elses truck.

I vote this

or this in black

jkru617 02-12-2010 11:59 AM

If it were my truck Id leave it how it is. Looks clean.

Allgonoshow 02-12-2010 04:03 PM

lot's of opinions,
I lowered my 4x4 but that bumper sucks.
lot's of great bully bars if you want a better presentation

RXDawg 02-13-2010 09:28 AM

I like the black.....it'll match your wheels and doorhandles. A buddy of mine had a similar large ranchhand on his 1/2 ton and it did seem to weigh it down.....the nose of the truck was considerably pointed down...looked like a dog on a trail. Anyway I'm with the other guys on the bull bar. The large ranchhand would look more at home on a duramax

stevensLS1 02-13-2010 10:59 AM

Well thanks guys for your input and other options. Ive decided to sway away from this as I have other things I could certainly use the money on!

Noah Burns 02-13-2010 11:45 AM

thatta boy!!

cheyenne383 02-13-2010 02:40 PM

Leave it alone, that's a damn good looking truck as is.

Thanks man! Your truck also look really good. I guess I was getting a little bored and wanted to do something.

1Bear 02-13-2010 03:57 PM

While I agree that just about anything added to the front of the truck disrupts that factory lines and is really hard to make look good, the factory front and rear bumpers are just about useless in any sort of an impact. It basically boils down to what your needs are, if it is purely aesthetics’ leave it alone (your truck looks good), if it is for function by all means do what you need to do.

I live just a little south of Houston and one of my co-workers has reduced the local deer population by 5 just last year alone. It’s gotten to the point that if he’s late to work, you can just about bet he’s skinning a deer…….LOL To make matters worse, he drives a little Toyota Tacoma for gas mileage and as you can imagine, it is starting to become worse for wear. He just about keeps a standing order in for grilles and bumpers and it’s getting where nothing will line up correctly. I think the only reason he hasn’t sustained more damage is because he keeps hitting the deer in the knee-cap’s instead of a body shot!

Hahaha now thats pretty funny right there. Yeah this is just my daily driver well my only vehicle really and just wanted a little more agressive look to it.

Mangled03gmc 02-13-2010 05:48 PM

I think that is a lil much, actually ugly..

cookba 02-21-2010 07:02 PM

although you have already changed your mind, i think these look pretty damn good and are more functional. http://www.buckstop.biz/chevy08_classic.html

The problem with the bull bars is they are just for looks, if you ever actually hit anything with them, they do more damage than if they weren't there at all.

08silverado 03-31-2010 11:36 AM

ranch hand, but then again i am from texas

SILVERADO11 03-31-2010 03:26 PM

It is a ranch hand bumper

01WS6/tamu 03-31-2010 04:39 PM

Go for it if you like. Not to mention it will aid in slow moving assholes in the hammer lane. You run up on them with that and they will move I miss the full replacement I had on my 98. slow idiots moved rapidly when a truck with a six inch lift and a full replacement appears in the rear view of their prius.

TX Tahoe Z71 03-31-2010 04:46 PM

I would go with a grill guard before I would do a front end replacement. I had the front end replacement on my 95 Bronco and a ranch hand grill guard on my 03 tahoe. Both weigh a ton and will drastically change how the truck turns, stops, handles and the tires wear. I would go with a grill guard for weight savings. I pulled my grill guard off my tahoe and sold it and it immediately drove like a whole new truck.

I've had both and that is just my $.02

I agree, when I removed my ranch hand replacement from my 2000 Z71 I swear I heard my truck say....ahhhh....drove much better and raised up 1" in front.

I had 6+3 on 36's btw
