Video as promised

I still need input on what are my best options for 4 bolt heads that would eliminate the head lifting problems. Come on where are the experts?? :poke: :poke:

15 psi shouldn't be causing a problem unless there is an underlying issue. Is there any detonation? If the heads were milled too much, that may be your issue.

Btw, glorious video. I miss that epic turbo whine

i am assuming those were some 243/799 heads that let go? if you do not mill them stock ones are 64-65cc chambers. while i am no where near modded to your power levels but mine are milled .030" to like 59-60cc with out issue so far.

im all for aftermarket ported heads if you can afford them but if on a budget the 799 heads shouldn't of let go at that low of boost imo. if you really want to drop compress can always look at the 317 heads.

what head bolts/studs were you using?

I had good luck with Trick Flow. I wouldnt hesitate to use any of the big names you see. Trick flow, AFR, PRC (the aftermarket casting), Mast, theyre all good. Pick your favorite.

The Trick Flow fast as cast are the best bang for the buck aftermarket casting head out there...

And just to add, my excab had PRC stage 1s which had been milled slightly.

Heads were milled to 62cc and no, there is no detonation. I think I need more volume to decrease the cyl pressure.

Yes and yes. Mine are milled to 62cc. Hope to find ones that fit with 70+cc chambers.

These heads have been seeing high boost on my car since 2013. When my car had a Whipple 2.3 at 18 psi for 2 years. Afterwhich, I had a turbo setup made locally here 94mm Bullseye Power at 15 psi for 2 and a half years then my my new turbo setup from Trick which turned it into a totally different animal.

The PRC LS6's definitely performed, lasted, and withstood way too much abuse for a long time if you ask me!

I've been eyeing Trick Flows for a while now. Heard some horror stories but not sure. I need the best heads money can buy. Budget is not an issue.

The Ultimate Chevrolet LS Cylinder Head Test - Stock LS1 Dyno - Hot Rod Network

The top few are all so close to each other its completely at your discretion. You are limited by your LS1 bore of 3.9"

Nice one. Thanks for this. My main concern is the head lifting issue. I need 4 bolt heads that will seal and remain sealed under boost.

The Dec'ks are thicker on any aftermarket casting. They should seal better under boost.

BTW, what head gasket did you use on this build?

Are you using, bolts or studs to hold the head down? OEM, ARP, China?

Just contaced AFR. We'll see what they have.

I used LS9 gaskets and ARP head studs. I would never use anything China on my truck.

You would be surprised at how many people still think those chinese studs are the way to go... :sigh:
