I've added the stock aux cooler and with a Circle D 3200 converter I've never seen over 160 in the summer with just stop and go. If I get on it there's usually enough air going through the cooler to keep it around 150. But I'm not in Texas either, you guys get some HEAT!

I just read all 4 pages of the 40K Tru Cool install sticky and it's all about the 4l60e and 4l80e.

Anyone have any experience installing on the 6L80E?
If they could update it that would be awesome!

Driving from work to my brothers house yesterday I got to 120*.
From there to the gym I hit 131*.
After 1.5hrs we left and went back to his house and I got to 142*.
Leaving his house going to mine I topped out at 151*.

All of these locations are ~5miles from each other and I was driveing "spiritedly"..

Skipper, did you snap any pics of the install? I'm also interested in how everyone else is choosing to go about it.

Driving home for lunch it usually runs 150* just cruising at 60-65mph 90% of the way there. Only 9miles away and 7miles of it is staright shot with 55mph speed limit. Wonder if my truck has a bad location for the cooler?

As long as you can keep it under 190 and above 120 you are ok..
my buddy has a 08 EC Z71 and he towed a gooseneck trailer to Houston, tx from here and his stayed at 200, loaded his mud truck and towed it home.. he said it never got under 240 the whole way seen it get up to 255 or so several times.
I tuned it for him when he got back and he said towing it wont get over 210 now.

That was about 50k miles ago.. and he is one to run the **** out of the truck everyday..

Since i have the trucool 40k on mine, i very very rarely see it get over 175 and i have to be hauling a good load to get it even that high.

So i am guessing 120* is normal operating temp.

Got a 6.2L/6L80 with 3.73's
I had my trans temp up to 205 Degrees F on a climb up the local mountains. Elevation from roughly 500ft to 6000ft in 45 minutes.
No problems.
Daily driving, mid-spring here in So Cal, about 160-175 in stop and go traffic.

I have noticed during the winter, i get worse mileage because the trans oil doesnt heat up, stays at about 130 on the highway, 6th gear, at 75-80mph. 40-50 degrees at night.

Bumping this thread up, we've had some 100+ degree days up here and I've seen my trans temp spike to 187 in regular driving. This seems really hot considering I'm not pulling a load. When it's mid to lower 90s it stays below 170 even in traffic. I've got a 6.2/6L80E with 3.42s.
