ok so I just bought a 09 silverado a couple of weeks ago and some buddies of mine was checking it out and couldn't figure out what engine I had the sticker on the air box was removed so anyways I looked up the RPO codes and it said it was a 4.8 but on the heads it's stamped 243 what does this mean is there any way by looking to see what block I have or whole engine thanks guys

You're VIN number will also tell you what motor it has. The 8th digit is your engine, you can plug it into a VIN decoder or call a dealership with it to get all the info on it.

243's and 799's are used on all the 4.8 and 5.3's from 07-13.
