Default guys that have stabilitrak

How do you turn it off

Do you have to hold it down for 10 seconds or do you just hit the button once?

In my parents cadillac you hit it once to turn one part off, then hold it down to turn the other part off

I haven't found a way how too, it drives me nuts.

Bueller, anyone?

The generals way of babysitting poor drivers from getting into trouble, activates the abs, closes the throttle and gets the vehicle going back in a straight line.

Makes it very boring and annoying to drive when you try and pitch it into a corner on a snowy road or try and swing the *** in a donut.

Just came back from a nice slippery drive in one of Albertas famous spring snow storms.

The idea in the first post works just perfectly, press the traction control button and keep holding it till the stabilitrac off message appears in the DIC. Only problem is that it re-enables when you cycle the key.

Sure makes it way more fun to drive though.

So it did work? do you have to press it, then release, then press again and hold it down... or does pressing it and holding it down turn it all off?

Either seemed to work, just have to wait till you get the message that it is turned off.

Press and hold once. Will take about 5 seconds. Stabilitrak in the snow and low speeds really sucks. Twice last winter, in about 2 inches of wet snow, I would step on the gas and as soon as the rear tires spun and the back end moved. Stabilitrak would kick in and the gas pedal would go dead. The truck would not move. I had to shut off Stabilitrak and then give it some gas to get moving.

You shut of the traction control when you just hit the button and when you hold it down it will shut of the stabiltrak. Not the same thing similar but not the same.

So you need to do both to get them both to shut off?
