So this might be a dumb question but on the eve of me installing aftermarket (and obviously louder) exhaust on my vmax I thought... Will my truck sound like a tuner rice rocket(or just shifty in general) in 4 cylinder mode?q

 

Not at all it sounds a little off but it still sounds like a v8!

 

I couldn't stand how my truck sounded after installing louder exhaust with the DOD on. I went the next day and had it turned off. I think you will hate it.

 

depends on which brand you use as well.
mine sounded ok with single 3" magnaflow catback, no big deal
but sounded terrible when headers added,
turned off dod then

 

It just sounds a tad choppy, no big deal. But I have a longer magna flow to keep the sound down in 4 cyl mode.

 

I also hated it...The drone really sucks! I turn it off around town and when I go on long trips I turn it back on, to save on fuel, but only if I remember...

Sounds like cr*p. Disable AFM/DOD, and be happy.

 

Mine barely comes on anymore with the lift and bigger tires.
When its on it just sounds like a slight misfire to me?
