engine temp

Are both the cooling fans running at full speed, are the radiator and a/c condenser, and aux tranny cooler if it has one, good and clean

But thats no excuse for the coolant to heat up. Did you have to keep the throttle down pretty good to keep up the speed? Theres not that many hills down there in LA on 55.

My buddys dad had a tahoe they towed their camper with and it stayed up around 240*. Dealership told him that was normal...

Next time try slowing down some and drop a gear to see what happens. Ive towed a crapton more than my truck was rated for and nothing heated up past normal.
At first i was doing 70-75 with cruise control set and it held it good, engine temp was normal. Once I started getting closer hills came i took off cruise control and dropped down to about 65. Thats when things strated to get really warm on the engine.

I have no idea, but i would guess that everything is working as it should truck only has 66k miles.

What gears do you have in it.?

The re-gear that you have planned will fix it. 4:56's or deeper and you will be fine.

I dont see the Efans helping any when he is already doin 60+mph? unless its just not flowing thru everything.. but i dunno..

I have washed the AC condensor and Radiator on my truck and you would be amazed how much crap gets stuck in there.

I have 3.73s But im now thinking 4.88s are going to go in the truck.

i used super clean or purple power to cut the dirt and grime.. let it sit and wash it out.
