Default Drivers side CV axle ?????

I pull into my Mom's neighborhood at lunch and it felt like a 4x4 trying to make a tight turn. I know I'm AWD but it has never felt like this before.

So I crawled under it and see the boot closest to the wheel on the drivers side is throwing grease everywhere.

How long do I have LOL.

I mean should I not pull my boat 15 mins to the lake tonight.

and should I fix it before I pull it 45 mins to the lake for the weekend.

It's already bad, so it's not going to get better that's for sure.

With them not being super hard to replace, I'd do it as soon as you can to stop it from making a mess and getting even worse.

It could be the cv shaft binding, but ive seen the carrier bearings in the front diff do what youre describing.... The get worn and start binding on low speed turns....

Since it literally started leaking today.

(I know this because I have a striped screw from when I did the Norcal Mod. That I have to pop back in it's hole so my tires don't rub when I back up.)

Do you think I'll be alright until the first of next week. I really don't have time to change it before the weekend. And I defiantly don't have time to change it before we go ride tonight.

If you're referring to the norcal fender mod it's where you cut metal out in the rear of the front wheel well then bend the left over and zip tie the liner back in for increased room for bigger tires/wider wheels. Don't know all the details but there's plenty of info on gmfullsize.com.

You are correct when I did it to my truck I used self tapping screws to pin the the fender liner back and had the drill on the wrong setting and stripped it.

Made it to the lake tonight no problems so I'll wait until next week to put a new one in. It's got 140k on it so it's had a good life.
